CONTINUOUS-FEED SBR

BIOWAVE™ SBR – The Next Evolution of Sequencing Batch Reactor Technology

BIOWAVE™ SBR is our flagship biological wastewater treatment technology, engineered as an advanced continuous-feed Sequencing Batch Reactor for municipal and industrial applications.

Unlike conventional SBR systems that typically rely on intermittent filling, BIOWAVE™ SBR maintains continuous wastewater inflow while treatment is controlled through optimized biological reaction, settling, and decanting cycles. A dedicated selector zone, internal mixed-liquor recycle, intelligent aeration control, and automated decanting work together to maintain stable biological conditions and consistently high effluent quality.

The process combines the operational simplicity of SBR treatment with the hydraulic stability and biological robustness of continuous-flow systems. BIOWAVE™ SBR is particularly suited to applications with variable flow, fluctuating organic loads, nutrient-removal requirements, and limited available footprint.

Its flexible operating philosophy allows the system to adapt aeration, mixing, settling, and decant cycles according to actual wastewater loading, enabling reliable treatment performance while optimizing energy consumption.

WHY BIOWAVE™ SBR

Key Features & Benefits

Continuous-flow hydraulics combined with intelligent cyclic biological treatment – compact, flexible and highly automated.

Continuous Feed Operation

Wastewater enters the biological treatment system continuously, minimizing the hydraulic interruptions associated with conventional fill-and-draw SBR operation and allowing smoother upstream process integration.

Integrated Selector Zone

Creates favorable biological conditions at the reactor inlet, promoting strong floc-forming biomass, improving sludge-settling characteristics, and helping suppress undesirable filamentous growth.

MLSS Internal Recycle

Controlled mixed-liquor recirculation improves biomass distribution, enhances substrate contact, and supports stable biological performance throughout the treatment cycle.

Combined Plug-Flow & Complete-Mix Characteristics

The hydraulic configuration combines the advantages of staged substrate utilization with intensive biological mixing, providing improved resistance to hydraulic and organic shock loads.

High Biological Process Stability

Retains a strong and adaptable microbial population capable of maintaining treatment performance under variations in influent flow, organic loading, and wastewater composition.

Advanced Nutrient Removal

Supports effective removal of BOD, COD, ammonia, total nitrogen, and phosphorus through controlled aerobic, anoxic, and settling phases.

High-Efficiency Nitrification & Denitrification

Optimized cycle control creates the required aerobic and anoxic conditions for reliable ammonia oxidation and biological nitrogen removal.

Intelligent Motorized Decanting

Automated decanter operation withdraws clarified treated water while minimizing disturbance of the settled sludge blanket and reducing the risk of suspended-solids carryover.

Integrated Biological Treatment

Biological oxidation, nutrient removal, biomass settling, and treated-water decanting are carried out within an integrated reactor configuration, reducing the need for separate secondary clarification systems.

Compact Footprint

The intensified biological process and integrated reactor configuration can reduce required treatment footprint compared with conventional biological treatment arrangements, making BIOWAVE™ SBR particularly attractive for space-constrained projects and plant upgrades.

Optimized Energy Consumption

Intelligent aeration control and optimized operating cycles allow oxygen delivery to follow actual biological demand, reducing unnecessary blower operation and overall power consumption.

High-Efficiency Fine Bubble Aeration

Fine-bubble diffusers provide efficient oxygen transfer to the biomass while maintaining the mixing conditions required for effective biological treatment.

Adaptive Cycle Control

Aeration, mixing, settling, and decant durations can be adjusted according to influent characteristics, plant loading, treatment objectives, and real-time operating conditions.

Excellent Settling Performance

Selector control, biomass management, and carefully controlled settling conditions promote a dense and stable sludge blanket, contributing to consistently low effluent suspended solids.

No Separate Secondary Clarifier Required

Biomass separation occurs directly within the BIOWAVE™ SBR process, simplifying the treatment train and reducing associated civil, mechanical, and piping requirements.

Fully Automated Operation

Integrated PLC/SCADA control manages the complete treatment sequence, instrumentation, alarms, aeration demand, decanting, sludge wasting, and process monitoring.

Remote Monitoring & Control

Digital process integration enables operators to monitor plant performance, review operating trends, respond to alarms, and optimize treatment remotely.

Flexible & Scalable

Suitable for compact packaged plants, multi-basin municipal installations, industrial wastewater facilities, new-build projects, and upgrades of existing treatment plants.
