LOCONIL™
Zero Liquid Discharge Thermal Evaporation & Crystallization
ZERO LIQUID DISCHARGE
Maximum Water Recovery for High-Salinity and Difficult Industrial Wastewater
LOCONIL™ is our advanced Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) thermal treatment technology, engineered for the treatment of high-salinity wastewater, concentrated brines, and industrial effluents where conventional membrane or biological processes can no longer achieve the required level of water recovery.
The technology combines thermal evaporation, vapor condensation, and controlled crystallization to separate water from dissolved salts and non-volatile contaminants. Wastewater is progressively concentrated within the evaporation stage, while the generated water vapor is recovered through condensation as high-quality distillate. The remaining concentrated brine is subsequently transferred to the crystallization stage, where dissolved salts are converted into solid crystals for separation and controlled disposal or potential resource recovery.
By virtually eliminating the liquid waste stream, LOCONIL™ enables industries to maximize water reuse, minimize wastewater discharge, and significantly reduce dependence on external disposal facilities.
The technology can operate as the final treatment barrier downstream of membrane concentration systems such as RO, NF, or other brine-concentrating processes, creating an integrated solution for achieving true Zero Liquid Discharge.
WHY LOCONIL™
Key Features & Benefits
Evaporation, condensation and crystallization engineered as one system – closing the industrial water cycle.
Zero Liquid Discharge
Designed to eliminate the final liquid wastewater discharge by recovering water as condensate and converting concentrated dissolved solids into a manageable solid phase.
High Water Recovery
Recovers a substantial portion of the wastewater as reusable condensed water, significantly reducing freshwater demand and overall wastewater disposal volumes.
Thermal Evaporation
Uses controlled heat transfer to evaporate water from high-salinity wastewater and progressively concentrate dissolved salts and non-volatile contaminants.
Integrated Condensation
Water vapor generated during evaporation is condensed into a recovered distillate stream that can be reused within the industrial facility following verification against the required reuse-water quality.
Controlled Crystallization
Concentrated brine is further processed to promote salt crystallization, transforming dissolved contaminants into solid crystalline material that can be separated and handled efficiently.
Treatment of High-TDS Wastewater
Particularly suitable for concentrated brines and wastewater streams with dissolved-solids concentrations beyond the practical operating limits of conventional reverse-osmosis systems.
Maximum Brine Volume Reduction
Significantly reduces the volume of residual waste requiring transportation, disposal, or further management.
Recovery of Valuable Water
Converts difficult industrial wastewater into a reusable water resource, supporting reduced freshwater consumption and improved plant water balance.
Potential Salt & Resource Recovery
Depending on wastewater chemistry and salt purity, selected crystallized salts may offer opportunities for recovery or beneficial reuse following appropriate characterization and quality assessment.
Effective Final Barrier for Membrane Brine
LOCONIL™ can be integrated downstream of RO, NF, electrodialysis, or other membrane concentration technologies to process the final reject stream and achieve complete ZLD.
Suitable for Complex Industrial Effluents
Capable of treating wastewater containing high concentrations of dissolved salts, hardness, silica, metals, and other non-volatile contaminants that can limit conventional treatment technologies.
Reduced Environmental Discharge
Eliminates or substantially reduces concentrated liquid discharge to receiving waters, sewer systems, evaporation ponds, or external disposal facilities.
Compact Integrated Configuration
Evaporation, condensation, crystallization, solids separation, and associated auxiliaries can be engineered as an integrated treatment system according to project capacity and wastewater characteristics.
Automated Process Control
PLC/SCADA-based control continuously monitors critical operating parameters including temperature, pressure, liquid level, concentration, conductivity, flow, and crystallization conditions.
Flexible Energy Integration
The thermal system can be engineered according to the available utility infrastructure and can incorporate heat-recovery strategies to optimize overall energy consumption.
High Operational Reliability
Materials of construction, operating temperatures, concentration factors, and cleaning strategies can be selected according to the specific scaling, corrosion, and fouling characteristics of the wastewater.
Modular & Scalable
Suitable for decentralized industrial applications, packaged ZLD installations, as well as large centralized wastewater and brine-management facilities.
